Well, 2021 was certainly an interesting year with Australia and the world was in lockdown due to COVID-19. With various states in Australia incurring lock-downs and lock-outs, the state of Tasmania remained fairly COVID free with a small break out early on in the North-West with a few people trying to come to Tasmania that were COVID positive.
In December, the Liberal government in Tasmania decided to open the border up and let travel happen again, reducing the need to quarantine (with a few exceptions). I was involved in the processing arriving passengers at Launceston Airport. While I agree that the borders need to be open, the whole idea around the restrictions that are being put in place, like wearing of masks when going into businesses I find a little on the disturbing side, as the government is forcing those to wear something and also mandating that we have medical procedures, being getting vaccinated. It is fine for them to say it is our choice, and that we don’t need to have it. The issue is, that if we don’t have it, then there will be restrictions on coming into the state, and then maybe were we can go in the state and what we can do. When did we go from a free country, to being a free country, as long as you have medical procedures to allow you to go places with out the fear of being turned away, and having to wear things such as masks. It use to be illegal to go into a bank with a face covering, but now it is illegal to go into a bank without a face covering.
Anyway, for the year ahead, I hope that all these restrictions disappear, and not needing to be vaccinated to go into a premises or state. I also hope that my businesses, IT Solutions And Marketing and Tassie Tiger Technologies have an exceptional year and grow to my expectations.
