Well – that’s it for 2010 and now for 2011
Well, that was the year that was, and to give you a brief idea of how I spent it, and my plans for 2011.
Work
2010
Well – interesting year it has been work-wise. April 10 saw an anniversary of 21 years service, doing the same job/same building and 3 different employees. I started with Telecom Australia (they name morphed to AOTC then Telstra), then was outsourced to EDS in 2001, and in 2009 was finally moved into HP after they purchased EDS. Just prior to my 21 year anniversary, I was advised by management of Work Force Reductions, and that my position was impacted, which saw me finish up on April 23rd, 2010.
2011
At this stage, I’ll be helping the folks out with the family business and doing some part time studies to get my Certificate IV in Information Technology, and will see what happens.
Family
2010
On the 26th January, I was involved in a Motor Vehicle Accident in Longwarry (about 10 minutes down the road from home). I was on my way to Narre Warren to do some shopping. A Nissan Navara failed to stop at a stop sign and crossed the freeway/highway in front of me. I impacted the Navara at 80 KPH (or nearly 50 MPH). I came away with some minor bruising, but able to walk. I have heard one of the passengers in the Navara had fractured vertebrae in the neck and was in intensive care.
2011
My brother’s fiancé will be moving up to Canberra, which was part of the plans, so this is great news.
Friends
2010
Well, a fairly uneventful year for my friends – apart from Darren having his divorce get finalised, and then getting married again in August to Nicole. I wish them all the best for their life together. It’s a pity that Nicole and I had a disagreement about what I say to friends. I told a friend I was going to the wedding, only to find out they hadn’t been told. And then to have posted on Facebook – “…. and highlight which side of the friendship fence he sits…” – I understand that Darren needed to tell his ex about the wedding, and I thought it would have been done earlier due to the children. How wrong I was. In hindsight (which is a wonderful thing), I think I know why they hadn’t told the ex, was due to the divorce papers not being signed, and they had all the wedding and honeymoon organised.
Caught up with my friend Sam Butler in May up in Sydney, and met Walt and Drew. Also caught up with Mark Pontifex. Then headed up to Port Macquarie, and saw my dad and step-mum.
2011
At this stage – no news from friends as to what they are up-to, so we’ll see what happens.
Wishing you all a Happy and prosperous New Year.
